gloss#
Usage: gloss [view] [options] [file | folder]...
command | gloss [options] -
gloss skill [show | install [folder]]
gloss help [command]A visual pager for images, SVG, PDF, STL, 3MF, Markdown, Word, Excel and CSV. With no file, gloss opens empty: drop files on it, or press o to browse. A folder opens the file browser there. Options may appear before or after filenames. Use – to end options. A file named like a command (view, skill, help) is opened with the command spelled out: gloss view skill.
gloss has one default command, view, which gloss FILE runs, and a few small ones. A command is the first argument and is named exactly; a file called skill is opened as gloss view skill.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
view | open files in the pager, or export, extract, pick and serve them (the default) |
skill | print the skill that teaches agents to use gloss, install it, or print the schema of its JSON |
help | say how to use gloss, or one of its commands |
The options of view are grouped by what they are for:
| Domain | Options |
|---|---|
| Opening and viewing | --menu --preview --render --no-alt-screen --type --glob --fetch |
| Documents, pages and tables | --page --dpi --cols --coln |
| Meshes: STL and 3MF | --3d --view --camera --projection --color --parts --partn |
| Exporting images | --output --output-dir --max-edge --vision-profile |
| Text and details | --text --grep --info --json |
| Handing files over, and showing them | --accept --pick --pick-web --listen --advertise-host --serve --no-open --prompt --prompt-loc --timeout --resume --status --cancel |
| Teaching agents: gloss skill | none |
| General | --help --version |
Exit status#
| Code | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0 | Success; with --pick, the paths were printed; with --status, a state was reported (it is in the JSON); with --cancel, the session was ended. |
