Your files

The browser app reads the files you open on your own machine. They are not uploaded. Files you add to the app's library are kept in your browser's private storage for this site, and nowhere else; clear the site's data in your browser to remove them.

Data collection

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising. We do not collect personal information.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses and browser details, under GitHub's privacy statement. We do not have access to those logs through this site.

What the pages load

Everything the pages run, including the PDF renderer, is served from this site; they load no scripts, fonts, or images from anyone else, and a Content-Security-Policy in each page keeps it so. The only request to another server is one you ask for, below.

Documents fetched by address

If you drop a web URL or follow a link that asks the app to open a document from a web address, your browser requests that address directly from its server, which sees the request as it would any other. Requests omit credentials and referrers and must satisfy the remote server’s CORS policy. No site proxy is used. The document is shown and not kept in your library. gloss fetches nothing on its own.

Third-party links

This site links to other sites, such as GitHub. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

The gloss program

The gloss command-line program, which you install and run yourself, collects nothing and contacts no server unless you give it --fetch and ask it to open an address.
